Domain name

Selection of a domain name for a corporate web site is somewhat like choosing the name for a newsletter. However, unlike the name of a newsletter, a domain name must be registered. Prompt registration of the desired domain name is important since the number of available, desirable names is dwindling as more companies establish web sites.

Domain names are often based on the corporate name. But in case of long names, they may also consist of words or an acronym. Some companies have selected domain names that reflect the core of their business.

InsideServices can register on behalf of its client the desired domain names with the officially recognized registrars. After the domain name has been registered and the initial fee for the first year of ownership has been paid, it is important to keep track of the expiration date. After the first year, the corporate owner needs to pay an annual renewal fee so the firm doesn't loose the rights to use the name and it can continue to use the domain name to host its web site. In order to increase the visibility of the firm's site, the company may choose to register additional domain names. The domain name should also be used in the company's e-mail addresses.
