Movies and pop-up screens
Many corporate sites have prefatory animation, which doesn't add anything that the viewer will remember. Movies only deserve a spot on a web site if they support the message of the site. The main message should not be communicated in a method that is not accessible to all site visitors. The predominant method of connecting to the Net is still the 56K modem; most businesses have T-1 lines, and hiding crucial information behind slow-loading features could limit the usability of any site.
Movies and multimedia presentations are useful if a site visitor can specifically choose to view the movie or presentation.
