The role of Graphics
When people visit a site, they are looking for something to click on. They'll try clicking on pictures first and clicking text second. Don't hide important navigation features inside complicated images and don't publish pictures that do not add to the message of the site. The look and feel of the corporate site is important to its success, but only in a supporting role to the site's content.
Special mention should be given to animated graphics. Occasionally sites overdo the amount of animations so they become distracting little nuisances that eventually annoy a site visitor. However, smart use of animated graphics can redirect the attention of your site visitor to content you want to highlight.
